On July 22th, 2019, London officially became the world’s first National Park City. But how do you become a National Park City? Are there Dutch cities who share the same ambitions as London? Can Amsterdam become one? Like London, Amsterdam now also has a green and blue map called Urban Nature Amsterdam. The map is developed by Amsterdam-based Nature Desks, in collaboration with London-based Urban Good, map-maker of the critically-acclaimed London National Park City map. I helped create content for the map and the Urban Nature Atlas on the reverse of the map, and moderated the map’s launch event at Pakhuis de Zwijger featuring guerrilla geographer and National Geographic Emerging Explorer, Daniel Raven-Ellison. If you know Nadina and her work, or if you ended up on this comprehensive website, you must have realized she is a professional. A passionate ecology lover with a deep understanding of modern technology. We worked together on several projects and have talked about future ones. It’s always a joy and huge inspiration to meet up with Nadina: she is hands-on, enthusiast, a good listener, ambitious, well prepared. For me personally one quality does stand out: her willingness to share and help out. Looking forward to many years of collaboration!
